The Must See and Do Activities at CPL

Summertime in Chicago is busy with activities, entertainment and all kinds of fun -- and it's no different at the Chicago Public Library! Here are top three activities you just can't miss at the Library this summer.

1. Sign up your kids and teens in the Summer Learning Challenge. The program is chock full of great programming, field trips, "brain builder" activities, hands-on learning, and prizes. Summer Learning is made possible by donors to the Library Foundation.

2. Register for a workshop in the popular Maker Lab. Workshops range from creating electronic textiles, such as illuminated cuff bracelets, to building light-controlled, electronic musical instruments using microcontrollers and Arduino software. Uh, what? Yeah, come and check it out. The Maker Lab is made possible with grants to the Library Foundation from the Institute of Museum and Library Service and the Motorola Mobility Foundation.

3. View the Build Her a Myth: Romance Novel Dresses exhibit at the Harold Washington Library. Artist Carrie Ann Schumacher has created delicately beautiful dresses made from the pages of romance novels. A true "must-see"!
