Celebrate National Library Week 2014 Read. Learn. Discover. We celebrate National Library Week this week to draw attention to the important role that libraries, librarians and library staff members play in communities all across the country. Today, Chicagoans have more reasons than ever to be proud of our wonderful Library, which was recently named as a finalist for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This medal is the highest national recognition bestowed upon a museum or library. The Chicago Public Library Foundation is exceptionally proud of its role as the Library’s private funding partner for over 25 years. With investments totaling more than $50 million, donors to the Library Foundation have helped sustain the Library’s innovative programming and services, and world-class collections.
