Celebrate National Library Week 2015

April 12-18, 2015

We celebrate National Library Week this week to draw attention to the important role that libraries play in our communities all across the country.

Libraries are community centers for learning, for discovering new ideas and cultures, and inspiring creativity through innovative programming.

We also celebrate the people who make our libraries run: librarians and library workers who help guide us through the vast information resources, technologies and programming at our Library that support our curiosity and love of learning.

Participate in National Library Week by:

  • Visiting your local Chicago Public Library to check out materials: books, music, videos and downloadable media.
  • Find a Library event that suits you such as toddler story times, Maker Lab workshops or YOUmedia programs for teens.
  • Participating in library programs like the current One Book, One Chicago.
  • Supporting your Chicago Public Library with a gift to the Chicago Public Library Foundation. It's through private funding that popular programs like One Book, One Chicago, Summer Learning Challenge, Teachers in the Library and many more, are free and accessible to everyone.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the unique, imporant role libraries play in making our communities better places!
